I was given this as a gift two years ago. The book has remained in my mind. I do not suppose I will ever hike Vermont's long trail, especially not alone, but I totally enjoyed the vicarious experience of the author's adventure.

***SPOLER ALERT*** This is the first book that I didn't find any amusing situations that made me laugh. The book does not read as though it was written by the same author as the previous books. This book reads and feels different. The language, syntax, everything just felt off. I noticed a FTA name and several other names reused, which seemed odd to me. Her apt was safe, no blown up cars, funeral viewings or help from Grandma. Was she on vacation during this book? The interaction with Grandma and The Plums is always enjoyable. So tired of the Joe and Ranger fight. Enough already, pick one and move on. Joe never buys her things, yet she always turns to Ranger for cars, help with a FTA and to hide out. But, she is supposed to be engaged to be engaged with Joe. She never has bullets for her gun and is usually kidnapped by someone. After 25 books, she has grown very little. Stephanie and Lula are like part of the three stooges, it was funny for a while, and now has become boring and stale. My final Plum novel.

You know, I do like Stephanie and her friends, but I have to say the last 2 books are not near as good as the first 23. This book was humorous, but didn't have any of the laugh out loud parts like in the previous books. I used to get at least 2 good belly laughs out of each book, but not from the last two. I would love more of Grandma Mazur in the books. I am kind of bored with the Stephanie, Joe and Ranger triangle. Stephanie is old enough to make a man decision! Personally, I think she should get together with Ranger! Joe is kind of boring and taking advantage of Ranger, he wants Ranger to protect Stephanie, but not have anything personal going on between Stephanie and Ranger! Ranger really has a soft spot for Stephanie and, I hate to say it , but she uses him, she keeps getting cars and help from him and just seems kind of 'Ranger will fix it all, and pick up my FTAs and let me have the money'. This book was amusing, but at he same time kind of ho hum!

Although this is the 25th book in a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone. At least if was a fun read for me. The bad news? I’m going to have to shell out quite a few bucks for the first 25.I feel as though Stephanie Plum and Lula are neighbors of mine here in North Dakota. They feel like friends my wife and I have.BLUSH FACTOR: There is some trash talk, but, for the most part, nothing too severe. However, there are eff-words – precisely two, if it matters to you. The first is found on page 155 and the second on page 285. Honestly, though, I would not like to see anybody pass this book by simply for these two slips of the tongue. This is THAT fun and engaging.CHARACTER: All of the central characters are well-drawn, and with just enough quirks to keep them authentic and interesting.POV: First person.EXCERPT:This excerpt is provided so readers can get a feel for the writing and their quirky behaviors.'... “Maybe we can help you,” Lula said.“What are you thinking about?”“Killing myself.”“There’s lots of decisions associated with that,” Lula said. “I assume you’re gonna shoot yourself in the head.”“Yeah,” Kulicki said.“Well, your head will most likely explode and make a big mess when you shoot yourself, so best to do it in the bathroom or kitchen. And then are you going to leave a note? And you’ll probably poop your pants so you gotta decide if boxers are the best choice or do you want to be wearing something more sturdy?”“Mostly I was just thinking if I should do it,” Kulicki said.“I’d advise against it,” Lula said. “It’s not something you can change your mind on after you do it. This series seems to have lost its mojo. What used to be hilarious has become tedious. Number 25 is not funny and that was the thing that I loved about this series. There were always laughs to be had - big belly laughs while I was reading in bed at night. Not anymore apparently. I suspect that the last two books - 24 and 25 - were ghost written. The continuity in some of the characters has changed. Lula is called fat twice and "large" once. Everyone knows that when Lula is called fat she goes crazy on the person making the remark. Not so in this book. She only gets mildly irritated when called a large woman. She doesn't even react when called fat twice. Now that's just not Lula. And, since book 24, Stephanie - who rarely uses obscenities - is using the world "dick" and other colorful phrases. Now, I don't object to cursing in books, I'm no prude. But, it's usually the characters around Stephanie who are using colorful language rather than Stephanie herself. There has been a definite increase in obscenities from all characters starting with book 24 and continuing with 25. Perhaps in an attempt to make the series seem edgier? And, how long is Stephanie going to vacillate between Ranger and Morelli? The decades long teasing of her bouncing back and forth between these two men has gotten stale. The whole book feels stale. The plot does pick up the pace about 60% into the story, but the laughs are nowhere to be found. Sigh. This is not what I expect from Evanovich. Really, what happened to this series???

This is one of the worst book yet! If her work keeps this quality i will not be buying any more

What a great book to get you started on a life of wholesome living at a bargain! I love the "recipes" for so many things I used to purchase at much higher costs, plus I am able to use my own organic ingredients to make them my own. I plan to purchase other copies of this book for gifts.

Having been a follower of her blog, I actually pre-ordered this book before it came out. I received it, glanced through it, and then it went to rest on the shelf with my other recipe books. I did notice immediately that it was beautifully photographed and well organized, but I just didn't have time to really go through it.Well recently I broke my leg very seriously and suddenly found myself with a ton of extra time to read. As I'm going through it I am repeatedly amazed by the type of things she has recipes for. For example, there's a recipe for antibacterial cleaning wipes!! I buy these at the store all the time and even the generic brand is super expensive. I love the convenience of them, but I won't let my kids use them because of the nasty chemicals. Which means more cleaning for mom to do. This is not just a book with a few homemade lotion and food recipes, it is so much better. I had no idea that such a gem of a book was on my shelf; I wish I had dedicated some time to it sooner!Besides recipes there are also helpful little 'money saving tips' throughout the book. Like the recipes, the tips are so simple and yet so genius. Many of these leave me wondering why in the world I didn't think of them myself.Merissa is definitely an expert at homemade recipes of all sorts. I don't know how one woman could have come up with so many wonderful recipes but I'm so glad she decided to share them! Probably the best thing about this book is that it is genuine and has heart. As another reviewer mentioned, she doesn't just share her knowledge she also shares herself. I think that really pulls the book together and makes it actually interesting to just sit and read.

This book is stunning in its scope and simplicity. Rich with content, easily adapted to any family's tastes/portion sizes, and full of wonderful, time saving ideas for healthy meals in a fast paced world. Substituting ingredients is easy: prewashed quinoa for rice, sprouted spelt flour for all purpose, whole wheat pasta for regular pasta, etc... No matter your family's eating style or budget, you'll find something here.I also love that learning this process has allowed me to convert some of my own time-honored recipes into mixes. Now when friends beg for my cornbread recipe (depending on how good the friend is, lol), I can hand over a mix AND the recipe. I can't wait for Christmas this year. I LOVE it when a book isn't merely recipes, but instruction, and something that helps me in my life in general. This book is definitely one of those.The body care and household recipes are also excellent, especially the honey body wash. The ONLY problem I've found is that I don't have nearly enough jars, lol, no matter how many I buy! Too fun! I obviously highly recommend this book.

This has been such a fun book to start reading and using. It made me want more books like it. The author is down to earth and very optomistic about making your situation work for you. She promotes more natural living at whatever level works for you, your family, and your budget. I enjoyed reading her story as I have not followed her blog. I just stumbled upon this book after looking and looking for one that I would actually use AND enjoy for a long time. This hit the mark for both! Really like it.I really have enjoyed opening up the beautiful pages of the book and finding something to make. Super excited to try making the homemade deodorant. Oh and one reason I really liked this book in particular is because she doesn't just say, petroleum jelly is bad, you shouldn't use it. She tells you why, and I appreciate that! I don't have to go do all the research. I did like the recipe for my homemade petroleum jelly too by the way.Almost wished she would have written more about her life and upbringing or journey as a Mom, just enjoyed her style and her story. Thanks for a great book Merissa, hope you write more.

About the Author

Eric Franklin is director and founder of the Institute for Franklin Method in Wetzikon, Switzerland. He has more than 35 years of experience as a dancer and choreographer, and he has shared imagery techniques in his teaching since 1986. Franklin has taught extensively throughout the United States and Europe at the Juilliard School in New York, Royal Ballet School in London, Danish Ballet in Copenhagen, Dance Academy of Rome, and Institute for Psychomotor Therapy in Zurich. He was also a guest lecturer at the University of Vienna. He has provided training to Olympic and world-champion athletes and professional dance troupes such as Cirque du Soleil and the Forum de Dance in Monte Carlo. Franklin earned a BFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and a BS from the University of Zurich. He has been on the faculty of the American Dance Festival since 1991. Franklin is coauthor of the best-selling book Breakdance, which received a New York City Public Library Prize in 1984, and author of 100 Ideen für Beweglichkeit and Dance Imagery for Technique and Performance (both books about imagery in dance and movement). He is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science. Franklin lives near Zurich, Switzerland.

I should've read the reviews before my purchase. I'm very disappointed that there is no book title on the spine. I ordered it as a gag for my bookshelf, now I'm not sure what I'll do with it. The book itself is a bit thin for the price, but the cover art is exactly as pictured. Every other page is stamped in the bottom corner with the title in one side and the cover art image directly behind it (grayscale). I've included photos of the book on the shipping envelope to illustrate how thin it is and of the interior art that I described above.

The pages are blank, which is good. If you open it and text appears, you know you're dead.

Bought this as a prop for a Lydia Deetz costume and now I use it as a coffee table book! I love it. It looks just like it does in the movie on the outside and is blank except for the small picture and writing in the corner that alternate every other page (see photos). I’ve also included a photo of the inside cover right when you open the journal. Overall I really like it!

It's about what I expected for $10. Mine has a small puncture mark on the back where the bar code is and a spot on the front that looks like it's a poorly placed distress mark. Instead, it just looks like the book got a drop of water on it or something. It's cute. I wanted it for my Beetlejuice Halloween costume and didn't want to spent $30 on the other ones on Amazon. I'm happy.

I cannot express enough how much I love this! I'm a huge beetlejuice fan! Great for my coffee table. Look amazing I will keep this forever, I only wish one day I can get the original.

Keep in mind, it's a journal. But it's amazing and I plan on writing all the crazy stuff in my life so when I pass..this will be left for loved ones to enjoy

Marshal would never forget the advice.The second in this series, Elizabeth Chadwick focuses this book on William Marshal who grows from the young hostage of King Stephen to Richard I's Marshal of England. Along the way, he loyally serves two other kings, Young King Henry and his father, Henry II, becomes the rock star of the tournament scene and marries and loves a young wealthy heiress begetting heirs and daughters.This book ends with the beginning William's service to Richard, so much of his long and rich story has yet to be told. However, Chadwick has already drawn the picture of the Marshal: loyal to a fault, complex but at the same time simple in his view of right and wrong.Although familiar with William Marshal's life, this book left me wanting to read more, hoping for additional insight into the story of this great man, his wife and their family and the fascinating time in which they lived.

I have just written a review about the second book and realized I wrote the wrong title to it, it was the Scarlet Lion, but I will write the very same review here:A book about my biggest hero during the Medieval times, William Marshall, written by one of my favorite authors, Elisabeth Chadwick, there's just no way to go wrong! The book is simply fantastic and this was one book that never hit the table except for the few hours I had to sleep at night. Otherwise the book was in my hands and nothing was done household wise in my home. It's difficult to tell about the book in a few words but it is without a doubt the most interesting story of probably the greatest man ever lived that actually came from nothing and managed to get it all through his hard work and good, loyal and brave manners together with all the well known other characters of his time. The strength of this man, both mental and physical, just jumps at you from the pages. Boy I wish I had been born at that time and that I would have been fortunate enough to know him. I imagine that I would have followed him in his footsteps like a puppy dog. ONE OF THE ABSOLUTELY MUST READ BOOKS! I LOVED IT !

I read Chadwick's books as a very pleasurable way to learn about my ancestors, and William Marshal is my ancestral great-grandfather. I know it's fictionalized, but Chadwick does her homework and knows her stuff. Her books are historically accurate and well researched. It's like getting a peek back in time to see what their lives were like. I have some ancestors I would just about rather not have -- King John, for one -- but William Marshal is one I am incredibly proud to be descended from. This book is packed with action and is a page turner, even if you're not related to the protagonist! Marshal was an amazing man and well worth reading about. His integrity and loyalty are good lessons for all of us. When he died, the Archbishop of Canterbury eulogized him as "The Greatest Knight," and I believe he was.

I have thoroughly enjoyed "The Greatest Knight" the story of William Marshal, a man of great honor, integrity, and courage. And I have also enjoyed "The Scarlet Lion" which continues the story of this amazing man, his life and times, and the profound love he shared with his wife, Isabel de Clare. I really appreciate the way Elizabeth Chadwick writes and the way she makes the 12th Century come alive for her readers. The characters are well-developed and multi-faceted and, I must say that I have fallen in love with William and Isabel. To me, they are truly inspiring! I am grateful for privilege of listening to these 2 wonderful books and will listen to them over and over again. Thank You, Elizabeth Chadwick.

I love this series. However, I am so confused! Can someone please help me to understand the order of these books? Lol In the William Marshal Series I have read A Place Beyond Courage, The Greatest Knight, and The Scarlet Lion. I understood these were books 1-3. But I am very confused about Book 4 The Time of Singing and Book 5 To Defy a King. Is this the proper order and if yes where does For the King's Favor (William Marshal) fit in?

Elizabeth Chadwick has a new #1 fan and I have a new Love in my life! The Greatest Knight was so well written it has given me a new, real life hero to find out as much as possible about. Such a shame to know that William Marshal was quite neglected in history. If you enjoy reading to the extent of finding yourself living alongside the characters, then the author has more than done their job. I highly recommend and encourage anyone who enjoys such adventures to read this story. You will find yourself (as I did) wondering how such a remarkable man got lost in the history books. I'm highly anticipating reading the continued experience of William, his family and their story. I'll also be looking for more information on these people, although Ms Chadwick does explain how we "lost" him. I'm pleased she brought him back to us and am sure you're going to agree. Thanks as well for the information provided about your process. As interesting as the story itself. I encourage you all to enjoy a great read, fun ride, and possibly remember a man we should never have lost!
