Nice pictures. Nice content about the factual basis on which Buddhism is founded...i.e. who is Buddha. It can be broken up into chunks for bed time reading pretty easily, else it has about 45 minutes worth of text (and discussion), which tends to be a little longer of a commitment for one bedtime reading. My 5 year old is old enough to understand the concept of Jesus, where he came from and who he is. This book serves well to teach him the concept of Buddha, where he came from and who he is. I am on a quest to teach my children the variety of spiritual basis in our world and this book is a nice addition to that collection.
This book is gorgeous. I gave it as a gift to a friend who is a Buddhist and has a baby son. The iillustrations are beautiful and the words are written with grace.
I purchased this for my 86 year old aunt to help explain Buddism.It's a "children's book" but explains the religion very well & I feel it is entirely appropriate to inform people of any age.
I love all of the books Demi has written. The words and illustrations flow so beautifully together. Everyone should add Demi,to their collection.
This book is quite beautifully illustrated, and well written for all ages. It's a great introduction to Buddhism for kids or adults.
The illustrations in this book are gorgeous. My 2.5 year old son loves looking at them. The problem is that it was written to make the Buddha look like a fancy God with mystical powers and whatnot. It's very fanciful, and I was hoping for a book that more accurately portrayed the Buddha as he was: An enlightened man, not a god.
Book arrived on time and as described.
While a lovely book, I was hoping to find a more sensible treatment of the Bkessed Buddha's life. He just seems to be one God like all the others with miracles and silly powers. Here's hoping to find a book that treats the Buddha how he was. A man. A man who solved the problem of human suffering for himself and for any who would follow his path.
