This book on Allen Iverson just came far too soon.Allen Iverson is my favorite current NBA player partially b/c he shakes up the status quo -- not necessarily because he wants to make that his objective, but quite poetically, he's doing it just by being true to who he is.This book is a tale about a kid from the wrong side of the tracks, that basically struck it rich but admirably remains "the same" as opposed to "assimilating" just to make his economic & financial counterparts feel comfortable around him.No true criticism of Larry Platt's writing style. If he wanted to go deep into Allen Iverson's undocumented youth and youth exploits, that's fine too.Bottom line is this book, while it has several defining moments, just isn't a compelling enough read because it was written still TOO SOON.A.I., love him or hate him, totally revolutionized the NBA and the image it projected to Middle America.I'd love to read a book about his life when he's 50, 60 or 85.I'm sure he'll be on "60 Minutes" doing a "My Life & times" segment.Whoever writes the book about his life just before that interview will surely have a No. #1 best-seller.

its the best selling book about allen iverson out there. im a die hard iverson fan so just the fact that this book was written was a positive thing for me. tells the story of his struggle, and the struggle of his friends and associates growing up. he's had a hard past but still entertained millions with his talents. the guy is a legend. I love reading and will nearly always pick reading over watching. Therefore when I do watch something I’m very selective that said I’ve seen everything the Coen brothers have done.For me this book was an informative look into their lives and how they started down this road. I’m not saying there’s much here for diehard fans or people looking for a more in-depth look. But for a fan of their films who previously knew very little about them I found it interesting.I discovered how they started a lawn mowing business to earn the $400 required to buy Vivatar super-8. And their film making career was launched.There’s some lovely pictures and quotes and as a huge fan of their films I really enjoyed it. Talking of their films I’ve been trying to narrow the list and pick my favourite but I’ve decided it’s an impossible task.I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Aurum Press.

The Coen Brothers by Ian Nathan is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late January.Being a fan and fellow Minnesotan, I was excited for this book, its photography, and perhaps gentle analysis of the Coen Brothers' films, but I draw a thick, wary line at Nathan insinuating that St Louis Park (once referred to a St Louis when talking about their junior high school) is 'nearby' Brainerd when they're at least 120 miles apart, uneven syntax (particularly straight-up sentences inside of parentheses if something is vaguely apropos), and hit or miss photos (off-topic, on-topic, or not appearing at all). So, yeah, a kind gesture and respectful toward these filmmakers, but frustrating.

I enjoyed reading this book about one of my favorite director/writers. The book chronologically presents the Coen Brothers from their beginnings in Minnesota to their latest movie. I really enjoyed many of the behind the scenes stories. The text includes a lot of wonderful photographs. Anyone who loves movies will enjoy this book.

Before I even opened this book I was in love with the cover! It will be going on my shelf facing out so I can look at it. It comes in a slip cover box. Then....it gets better...the quotes! A page turner of quotes along with the photos are simply fabulous. A great resource of all their work.

When people ask me what my favorite movies are, I list off directors instead...and the Coen Brothers are at the top of my list. I have seen every one of their movies multiple times. They are brilliant writers and directors in my opinion and if they are involved in a film then they can have all my movie-watching money.The Coen Brothers: The iconic filmmakers and their work is a self-explanatory title that tells you exactly what you're going to get when you open the cover. It offers a biography of Joel and Ethan Coen, shares insight into family dynamics, covers pretty much all of their movies in chronological order, summarizes the storylines, talks about the inspirations - how the setting or events relate to real-life experiences, discusses the importance of particular scenes, incorporates reasoning behind actor choices, gives a look inside the business of filmmaking, and so forth. I’ve been a fan of the Coen brothers since watching Blood Simple many years ago, indeed I loved the film so much that I pestered the guy in my local video store to give me the poster off his wall. This book gives me a great idea on trading and investing and hope I can use what I learn on this book someday and thanks to this book cause by applying what I learned It may help me to attain success in the future and this is simply the best guide to trading out there and i have read two other day trading books and they were nowhere near as comprehensive, concise, and organized and this strategy has worked for me and i have made more profit on trades with this strategy than losses and the profits were quite big on some days and this book help me understand a lot more about stocks than any other book there because it does not give u a complicated way of understanding stocks it on the other hand helps u understand stocks in a step by step motion great for beginners and i have read each of his books more than once and have made changes to my investment strategies due to the knowledge I gleaned from each and the book is easy to understand and straight to the point, all the content is valuable to know.

This is just a powerful kit! And I've been studying for a month and at the same time I'm training. It's incredible! The first book I read in three days told the most important basics. And after that I saw how everything is arranged. The second book has opened receptions and at me the first successes have gone. The information is so much that I do not have time to use everything at once. This is a real bible for trading. I'm feeling the next year's powerful results and these books really will give me a lot of money.
