By trying to explain the materials with a fictional biochemical amusement park called "Biochemistryland," the author actually it more confusing more me. I would have preferred it if the author went straight to the point instead of using convoluted analogies, for example, "Sphingo's Curio Shoppe" when he described the sphingolipids.
Sorry to say I don't think you could pass a high school biochem exam with this book. "Clinical" forget it. This text erred on the side of both ridiculous and simplistic.
Love it!! It’s a joy to have it
Loved it. At the end of biochemistry class, I had a look at the map that came along with the book and I actually knew everything on it! Books like these aren't meant to be review books, they're really more 'overview' books that orient you to the subject. If you're a big picture thinker like me then this sort of book is indispensable!
So SO
I didn't find this book helpful. The memorization tools were way too complex for someone who simply needed help understanding the material (there is a map of the biochemical carnival that is-no joke-4ft long). I suppose if you have tons of time to really study this on its own you could go in and nail biochemistry, but if you are trying to use it as a supplement... Just know it wasn't useful for me, and I regret spending my money on it.
Saved me while studying biochem the entire series is fantastic
This book is awesome! It's such a clever spin on Biochemistry that makes the content so interesting and fun! (Never thought I would be saying that!!)
