Wonderful book. Beautifully illustrated and instructive at the same time. Small children will need help with all the pull-and-flip gizmos.

This is a great learning book for my little guy!

My son knows every dinosaur name this book teaches him so much about where they are from. He lobes it and it's a great quality.

My kindergartner loves dinosaurs at the moment, so this seemed like an obvious book to request for her. I know that a lot of scientific knowledge about dinosaurs has changed since I was a child, and I wanted to make sure to get an up-to-date book. I am mostly happy with Dinosaur Atlas by Lonely Planet Kids.This is a well-constructed book with thick pages and a hard cover. There are lots of pull-out pages and flaps to lift, which means that there is a ton of information. The layout can be a bit confusing and difficult to follow at times. The book is intended more for older elementary school kids who are reading independently; however, this book will also work as a resource for younger children with help from an adult.Overall, I was pleased the construction of the book and the quality of information. Most of the facts are aligned with current science as far as I can tell. As some other reviewers have noted, the illustrations are not aligned quite as well. Dinosaur Atlas is a pretty good dinosaur resource for children. It has some flaws, but it does a decent job of following the science in a rapidly changing field of study. Personally, I would like a cleaner layout and updated illustrations, but I think the book is usable and enjoyable as is.

Excellent, excellent book packed with fascinating info. In the first couple of pages i learned crazy mind blowing facts, like the 15' reptiles that lived on Earth BEFORE the dinosaurs. Also 80% of dinos have been discovered since 1990s. 80%! I had no idea!Most magical of all, my 10 year old, who expressed no previous interest in dinosaurs, literally could not put this book down. He read the entire thing in a span of 3 days. We're now reading it again together. it has INCREDIBLE pictures, both real-life and stylized graphics, and does a remarkable job of simply explaining complicated subject matter, like the shifting of tectonic plates and the various eras of earth. There are also numerous fold out and lift up flaps, so you almost get the sense that you're an archaeologist un-burying dino facts.I love this book, and frankly, am grateful for it. It reminded me of my own love of dinosaurs when i was my son's age. It was fun to revisit this love, and learn new information that hadn't been discovered when I was that age.Highly recommended

A bit advanced for 5-year-old grandson who doesn't read yet, but he enjoyed the pictures and having it read to him. Most pages fold out to show timelines, additional species, or other elaboration. There are also many flaps to open and reveal additional information. The Dinosaur Atlas teaches about the era of dinosaurs, different types/species of dinosaurs, and how paleontologists excavate, catalog, and interpret the fossils so we can all learn about dinosaurs. My 7 year old son has been loving this book! He loves all things dinosaur, so this is perfect for him.We did find a few typos, but even with that this book is great! It is informative and fun! My kids love lifting the flaps to see what other information is hiding behind. And the pictures are engaging and colorful. The pages are a great thickness for kids. The book is sturdy and well made. It goes over A LOT of information. Very educational. There are dino facts, facts about the different time periods, maps, and information about discoveries and paleontology. It would make a great gift for any dino- loving kid! My son was so excited to receive it!

Very informative about the planning and building of the bridge and includes a lot of black and white photos taken during various building stages. Since I live in lower Michigan and have crossed the bridge several times on the way to Canada, I found this book very interesting. I first read it on my Kindle but then ordered it from Amazon in book form.

I just returned from vacation in Mackinaw City where I photographed the bridge from various angles, from both the lakes and the southern shore. The guided boat tour under the bridge was narrated by the book's author Mike Fornes. A fascinating bridge, and a very interesting book covering it's history and construction. Mike Fornes is very knowledgeable and informative.

Excellent text on the birth and history of the Mackinac Bridge. The author's deep admiration for the bridge, and for those who designed, built and maintain it, shows through in the abundant photos and interesting stories he relates.A "must-read" for any fan of the "Mighty Mac."

This was an interesting book on the history of this remarkable feat. The engineering that went into this is truly awesome as was the work of the men who built the structure. And the historical pics are great.

Some of its 4,000 titles include "Chicago's State Street Christmas Parade," "Aviators in Early Hollywood," and "The 1938 Hurricane along New England's Coast.""Mackinac Bridge" can be read with pleasure by those who are interested in Michigan history, most especially by those of us who have crossed the 'Mighty Mac' or have admired its stunning profile from one of the ferries that shuttle back and forth to Mackinac Island. Back before this suspension bridge was built, ferries were the only mode of travel between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. A couple of the photographs in this book show parking lots full of cars waiting for a ferry. During peak travel weekends such as Memorial Day or during the firearm deer hunting season, waiting times could be as much as 24 hours to make the crossing.Most of this book's photographs and text are devoted to the actual construction of the Mackinac Bridge across the five mile strait of open water between Lakes Huron and Michigan. Center does an excellent job of putting the reader in her shoes, and although I cannot imagine being in her situation, I could empathize with her. In other words, she is completely relatable even though she’s in an impossible situation.I’ve never read Center before, but a quick Google search shows that she has authored many books and is quite popular. If this book is indication, then I can see why. How to Walk Away is, for lack of a better phrase, hard to walk away from and Margaret will stay with me for a long time.

If you have not read a book by Katherine Center, I highly recommend that you don't delay!! I am on my third book by her and can hardly put it down to get my chores done.Normally a chapter a day is my habit. But, I zipped right through "How to Walk Away" and enjoyed every minute -- full of real life struggles, disappointments, and pure joy. Next I read "Happiness for Beginners" in two days and it was just as good or better. Half way through the "Bright Side of Disaster" promises to be just as good.Thank you Katherine.

Fairly accurate account of what a typical spinal cord injury may go through with out being very specific on where the injury occurred (Im an Occupational Therapist). And it’s not a sad sob story unrealistic tale where the heroine defies all odds and runs into the sunset.It’s about personal weaknesses and strengths and what really matters in life. Makes you remember that perfect is not always good or right.

I went into this book not knowing what to expect since I have never read anything by this author and honestly not even 100% sure I would like it! But I loved it! I loved the main character and how she was a little bit snarky and a little bit funny. For sure there were some great one liners that made me laugh out loud!And while the MC went through something devastating and had to learn to live again and be happy she did it with determination!The one part of the story that was a real draw for me and kept me hooked is the dynamic between family members. This is just a great "turn life around", feel good story and I would highly recommend it to anyone! I will definitely check out the authors other works.

Gosh, Maggie Jacobsen is just such a likeable character. Despite the fact that I knew pretty much where Maggie was going to end up, I certainly enjoyed the ride because she was such an entertaining character to get to know. My one criticism would be of the character of Maggie's fiance Chip - he felt flat and one dimensional."You have to find the inspiration in struggle, and pull joy out of hardship."

Firstly, I can appreciate how much work and research must have gone into writing this book. From a physical and medical stand point, it seemed legit. The plot, dialogue and character developments, I felt, were completely lacking. No chemistry between the love interests, no build up or development of any of those relationships... which was unfortunate since that seemed to be the major backbone of the book. I just couldn’t connect with any character. Further, what I assumed to be a major plot twist didn’t shock me, instead it just happened in a very underwhelming way. I really wanted to love this book as the book summary sounded very promising and I hadn’t read anything similar to my knowledge but I couldn’t get in to it. I ended up skipping over long dialogues that didn’t really seem to serve a purpose and did the same with descriptive paragraphs. I read it in one night and felt pretty underwhelmed, unfortunately. This had so much promise but fell so flat for me. The stars I gave are solely for the trouble the author took in researching the medical data and therapy treatments. It was clear she was very thorough.

I picked up this book because I was lucky enough to meet the author right after she had finished a book signing event nearby. I was captivated and ordered this book. I am so delighted I did. This book sends you on a compassionate journey about life tragedies and how to survive and thrive. This is a must read. Thanks Katherine Center
