These Bach arrangements are hard to find, so I was pleased to find this. However, the print size has been reduced and can be difficult to read. These are challenging pieces to learn, and the small print doesn't help. The flip side is that these works would be very expensive to buy in full size format, so this was an affordable alternative.

This has been a great value. The Toccata and Fugue in D-Minor, the Chaconne, and 'Nun komm der heiden heiland' have all become standards in performances and competitions, and are very enjoyable to play (the 1st Liszt Mephisto Waltz Busoni arrangement is as well). I bought this book after getting frustrated with the IMSLP versions in ForScore on my iPad. I definitely got my money's worth, but wouldn't expect the binding on this book to last forever.

This is a decent rendition of this work and is well transcribed for solo on either piano or organ. It is not the cut version I've seen so often or made too easy.

Nice collection of beautiful but very difficult pieces. I am working on some of the easier Choral Preludes transcribed by Busoni.

Exceptionally fast and efficient service without being too expensive. The contents are interesting. The Bach purist would probably not be impressed.

This book is quickly becoming one of my favorites because it is helping me decide between using COM or CORBA in our future product line. I know COM fairly well but didn't know CORBA, thus this book is helping me immeasurably. Talk about perfect timing! Using this book I am can compare the architectures as advertised- but I can also get a feel for the coding effort involved by using the code samples supplied. This was been an unexpected bonus and will allow me to prepare the development teams for whatever path I take. I have recommended your book to others in the company and it is now required reading for my architecture team.

Jason's book offers a unique blend of technical education, architectural insights, and developer tips while spanning an impressive range of topics.Jason compares COM and CORBA, gives real-world examples of how to make COM and CORBA interoperate, demonstrates how to use each technology on client desktops and servers, discusses integration with mainframe applications and asyncronous communications services, and provides illuminating examples for Visual Basic, (Visual) C++, and Java developers.As if this weren't enough, he provides code samples that work with Iona Orbix, Microsoft Transaction Server, Microsoft Message Queue, and InPrise (Visigenic) Visibroker.

Though not explicitly meant to be this book might also serve as an introduction to both CORBA and COM: quite an achievement. The authors waste no words and keep a neutral standing between the poles. I hope the next edition will contain some information about Microsoft.Net too.

A concise and comprehensive analysis of two technologies that are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Mr. Pritchard did an excellent work of dissecting each one and at the same time, achieved a perfect balance between theory and code examples that is so rare on this field. Barrow shows, to speak plainly, the complete takeover of the university system from about 1860 onward, by Corporate America. Formerly controlled by religious leaders and teachers. Very precise data is provided to show, step by step, this takeover. Universities became the servants of Corporations and to the detriment of labor. There is a method to their madness, you might say. Anyone who has read John Taylor Gatto's Underground History of American Education, should read this, too, and vice-versa.As well, Universities were corporatized so that salaries were dramatically reduced over time, with most profit going to the University "Corporation." Universities then became research centers to aid big business in research and development. This book reveals much not well known or publicized. As another reviewer did mention, it does appear to have a slight Marxist slant, but that does not change the value of what Barrow presents.One criticism from me would be that the language seems a bit cryptic at times, and not easily understood. But much of the data is plain enough and it gets easier to understand as the book goes on.Perhaps it is possible Barrow was even a bit nervous in presenting the information so he may have chosen a cryptic style to add a layer of security. But the book is a must have, must read! 5 Stars, despite the difficulty. It is worth the effort.I bought this at Amazon about 8 years ago, used. Glad I did!
