About the Author
Dr. Fergus Connolly is the Performance Director for University of Michigan Football. Prior to joining UM, Connolly spent two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers as Director of Elite Performance. Connolly has also worked as a performance consultant for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, New York Knicks, and multiple English Premier League, Australian Rules, and professional rugby teams. He also served as sports science director with the Welsh Rugby Union and was strength and conditioning coach for the Bolton Wanderers FC. Phil White is an Emmy-nominated writer and the co-author of Unplugged with Brian Mackenzie and Dr. Andy Galpin and Waterman 2.0 and Flight Plan with Dr. Kelly Starrett. Fergus brings a really unique perspective to elite performance, and this book details that in a powerful way. He has worked for teams in the NFL, NBA, Premier League and NCAA football—so he has a background that's well-rounded and applicable to ALL sport. This book is very insightful and well-written. I highly recommend it.Game Changer
This book is a real slog. What takes five words to convey a concept seems to take this author five pages. I give the book credit for drawing on different industries and parallels to convey certain messages however it’s all unnecessary. Given that the book touts the fact it is all about sports science I agree with another reviewer that there is little to no actual sports science in here. In fact there is a part essentially linking naturopathy to players personality types with no references supporting any of it. I can’t in good conscious recommend this book.
What else can be said about Fergus and Phil writing this amazing book. I am no where near a high level coach, but there is so much they put into this book that can be used from a young kid's rec league, all the way up to the pros. This is certainly for anybody looking to really step up their game. The other beauty of it is all of the principles that can be applied to other parts of life and even business. Not bad, but references to many sports. Talks a lot of micro and macro principles. Thought there would be more science. More of a reference guide than a read. Coaching better every season gets you more hands on knowledge that you’ll utilize. Don’t buy, get from library, look at it first.
If want to understand the strategy and theory of team sports better this is book for you.

Every page seems to take you down a rabbit hole of information but most importantly, self inquiry.It's the book I wish I had when I started. It's the book everyone should have when they start in S&C, High Performance or coaching.It should be an essentially required, you can't work in the industry, if you don't read this, kind of book.
Game Changer is a great contribution to the field of coaching and with application to all sports. It's extraordinarily well researched and the content is amplified by Dr. Connolly's first hand experience working most recently with Jim Harbaugh's teams.
